M193 is the designation for the basic 5.56 ammo issued for field use with the M16A1 rifle. Federal puts an X in front of it when the ammo is going to the civilian market and not the U.S. Armed Forces. As such this round has a 55 grain FMJ bullet loaded to a standard muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps. This is a perfect bullet for target practice – completely steel-free, for compliance with any range’s policy on magnetic ammunition – and also befitting of a home defense situation.
